In 2004, my family and I moved to Bangkok, Thailand. Since we had two small children and I was a health-concious person, we were quite concerned about finding a pediatrician, who would take care of our our youngsters. Several people told us not to worry about it because medical care in Thailand was top-notch; hospitals that would rather be a five-star hotels, US-trained doctors who charges less than what you pay for a decent meal in San Francisco, among other things we've been told.
The good news is most of these are true. The facilities are second-to-none. Services are world class.
Unfortunately, however, the most important aspect in medical care, the quality of care, is severely lacking. We saw half a dozen different pediatricians at two top private hospitals during our two-year stay in Bangkok. A few of them were highly recommended by our Thai friends. We were quite disappointed as none of them met our expectation.
I will write more in my blogs and reviews the circumstances where I felt the care received was inadequate. But now let me tell you about this site.

The reason I am happy to see it is that my daughter is looking into getting plastic surgery to repair the damage she did to her skin and musculature by her 300+ pounds of weight she had until two years ago! At that time she underwent Gastric bypass Surgery and LOST OVER 150 POUNDS IN 14 MONTHS!!! She is 5Ft - 11 Inches tall and weighs 146 pounds at this time! She has kept up an exercize regimen she can be proud of (and I am very proud of her also), exercizing 4-5 times weekly! BUT! Even with the super eating habits and her muscle tone superb, her skin and underlying fat cells are so stretched that she thinks she looks terrible in swimwear or naked. As her Daddy, my views are considered predjudiced and uninformative, as I think she's gorgeous, as does her husband, Dustin!! ANYWAY!!! She wants to come to Thialand to have her plastic surgery which is quite extensive as she wants a full abdominal flesh removal and breast tissue removed and augmenting bags introduced to give her back the substance that went away during the weight loss! We are leaning towards two dr's. which are rated 5 of 5 and both practise at Bumrungrad Hospital! They are Dr. Somboon Waiprib and Dr. Termsak Navykarn, who is also on staff at Bangkok Muni Hospital! I am leaning towards Dr Navykarn simply due to him having priveleges at a public hospital as well as a private one! Can you tell me whether this is a valid criterion or not???

PS: I wish there were a site like this thirty years ago when I was Mis-treated by Dr. Harry Reger by being put on a drug called Indocin for SEVEN YEARS without any liver or kidney tests!!! When another Dr found out, due to an emergency he had my kidneys tested immediately and I had a 35% MASS LOSS of kidney tissue and had lost over 65% of kidney function!! As I had been brought up NOT to sue anyone, let alone your DR, I didn't sue him and now have to pay for my health care out of my own pocket! Luckily, my kidneys recovered about 20% of the loss so I currently only have a 50% loss of efficiency! Dr Reger, ten years before I found out about the Indocin also prescribed Butazolidin Alka and I was on THAT for over eight months before an orthopedic Surgeon told me it was NEVER prescribed for more than four WEEKS due to Cancer producing properties and liver and kidney tests were supposed to be done WEEKLY while on it! (I had NO tests in 8 mo's!)
